"Trust me, if you're worried that news will get out that you've been here; well, let me say that I have yet to have gotten anyone into trouble."
Sahele choked slightly on his drink. "Look, I'm sorry, but I'm not trying to...er...pay you. I'm not interested in your services."
The doxie was obviously drunk. She continued to look at him, swaying slightly on the spot.
((OOC: Sorry it's short. I didn't want to play anyone else's character.))

"Squeak. Down. Do your business elsewhere."
Markkus tried not to smile. "Uh...thank you."
Obviously, he was a good place to use the bathroom. Well, it was about time for him to take a bath.
"It's a delicate subject, bribes. I don't know whose hands I'm passing a lot of money into, and I don't know where that money's going. What's more is, I don't know where this information's gonna go. If you get my drift."
"Uh..yes, I understand. To put it bluntly, I myself am the King, and this, well, is my uh...long lost friend here, Adina. She'll a...a little drunk, so please just do your best to ignore any kind of strange or suggestive comments she makes."
Damn, Markkus thought. This obviously made it sound as if she was doing business with him. Well, it didn't matter.
"Trust me, if you're worried that news will get out that you've been here; well, let me say that I have yet to have gotten anyone into trouble."
"Look, I'm sorry, but I'm not trying to...er...pay you. I'm not interested in your services."
Markkus glared over to Adina. It was time for the girl to go to bed.
"Excuse her...uh...less than decent behavior," Markkus managed to say, still looking at Adina.
He ordered another water for her, praying she wouldn't drop the glass or something.

Sahele was about to reply when the girl stepped in again.

Sahele's mouth twitched. For a moment he fought, but soon he gave up: he burst out laughing.
After a moment of being doubled over with laughter, he regained his composure. Wiping a tear of laughter off his eye, he swallowed a gulp of his drink and shook his head. A broad smile stretched over his face. "Y'know, it's prob'ly a lot easier to be intimidated by the King of the Rogue if your dog hadn't tried to piss on his pant leg." His mouth twitched again, but this time he resisted laughter.

Markkus watched in disgust as the man began laughing. He raised one eyebrow and looked up, trying to see if anyone noticed this suddent, and quite loud, burst. Markkus found himself only grinning slightly, in amusement. He closed his eyes quickly, thinking of what he ought to do. Well, he'd dealt with this kind of behavior before.
"Y'know, it's prob'ly a lot easier to be intimidated by the King of the Rogue if your dog hadn't tried to piss on his pant leg."
"Uh, sir, if you're we're done here, I suggest you pay me the bribe and leave. If it seems like I'm trying to intimidate you, you have a poor sense of judgement. Now, if you don't mind..." Markkus began sternly.
Markkus's next words were said only to be blurted out by the man's laughter. The man quickly stopped after his comment to Markkus. Damn them, he thought to himself. Everyone you see these days have lost every sense of respect they ever had in them. Well, thank the gods he's done with that.
Markkus was in a very uncomfortable situation. As much as he wanted to walk away, he needed to get the bribe money. And then of course, the drunken Adina was still sitting on her stool. She'd probably have no recognition after her hangover.

Sahele only laughed--less raucously then before--and clapped the shorter man on the back. "Alright, my friend. Now, before I forget--this is for the Player troupe that stays in Corus. We're usually pretty hard to miss. The gixie who usually comes isn't here, that's why you don't recognize me." He untied the purse from his belt and handed it over. "If none of your men stole from me, then that's what for the whole troupe."

"Look, I'm sorry, but I'm not trying to...er...pay you. I'm not interested in your services."
Adina laughed lightly. "I'm surprised; you strike me as the type of cove I'd be seeing, if you don't mind me saying so."
"Excuse her...uh...less than decent behavior,"
She trailed off for a moment, accepting the glass of water that Markkus had ordered her and making a bit of a face at her companion before turning back to the young man before her, saying "Look, if his Highness is what's worrying you, let me assure you, he knows quite well what I'm up to."

"By the by," Adina asked, "What's your name, or are you uncomfortable sharing that with us? I know your dog there was, Little Jon or something like that..."

It was definately time for Adina to go.

Markkus looked over to Adina again. He didn't think the dog's name had been brought up at all, but that didn't matter much. He was interested in learning this man's name.
((Short. Sorry!))

"I'm surprised; you strike me as the type of cove I'd be seeing, if you don't mind me saying so."
Sahele was slightly insulted, but he merely turned and related to the King who the bribe money was from. When he'd finished, the girl was talking to him again, still rather slurred from drink.
"By the by," Adina asked, "What's your name, or are you uncomfortable sharing that with us? I know your dog there was, Little Jon or something like that..."
Sahele raised his eyebrows, with a slight smile on his face. "T'aint no importance. Why'd you want to know that? I don't know your name, and I don't ask. Not important to our business. Or practical, come to that." He grinned and turned to face the cove, saying, "Mr. King of the Rogue." He gave a bow so deep as to take away all respect from the gesture, and started to walk away.

Adina furrowed her brow, not sure what had possessed her to ask him his name. "I'm not really sure why I asked, come to think of it."
She thought for a few more moments before asking, "Where did you say you were coming to us from?"

Markkus rolled his eyes subtly, seeing as the man's attention was on Adina. He took the small pouch from his land and pocketed it.
"I'm not really sure why I asked, come to think of it."
"I believe it was because I introduced ourselves in an odd sort of fashion," Markkus replied coldly.
Although Markkus opened his mouth to answer Adina's other question, he decided to let the man do the honors.
"Well, Adina," he said instead as he took one more gulp of his ale. "I think it's time for me to go. It was nice seeing you again, and uh...meeting you."
Markkus turned away from the bar and walked back into the crowds, deciding what to do next.

Sahele shrugged and turned back to the bar. I'm already here, so why not drink? he thought reasonably, and ordered another pint. The doxie swayed slightly and sat down, then she bought another drink. Sahele raised his eyebrows to this, but said nothing on that subject. Instead, he asked, "You've asked me what my name is. What do you call yourself?"
(OOC: Got brief control of Adina from Kallyling. Her permission and a and all)

Adina perched herself more comfortably on her stool, ignoring the bartender's disapproving grunt. She smoothed her skirts absently.
"You've asked me what my name is. What do you call yourself?"
"Now that's not fair. You can't expect to get my information for nothing." she said, teasingly, giving him a playful, if slightly drunken look. Adina always found conversing easier when she was drunk; for some reason people seemed less...domineering.
"Very well, I go by Adina, though now you have to tell me something about yourself. I am saying now that I will not give you my name in case you are a Dog in disguise, waiting to get my name down on the list for the cages."
She paused, accepting the drink and taking a sip. "You know, I find Dogs rather troublesome. I know they could be worse, but I don't like how you can never tell with them. I've had some here two or three days straight and on the fourth they're here again, coming to lock some of us up. So fickle minded."

Sahele laughed. Him? A Dog? Unlikely. "Sahele." He took her hand and placed a mock kiss on it, saying "Wonderful to meet you, Miss Adina."

"Not very nice of them, is it?" Sahele asked with a completely straight face, then grinning lopsidedly. "I don't like 'em, don't hate 'em. They can come and go as they like. Not doing nothin' wrong, so why bother with them? Besides, give 'em a penny or two and they're happy." He took another swig of his ale. "But I suppose it's a bit worse in your trade." He grinned at her again. Sahele liked her lopsided way of talking, or that might have just been the drink talking for her.

"Sahele." He took her hand and placed a mock kiss on it, saying "Wonderful to meet you, Miss Adina."
Adina cast her eyes down demurely. "The pleasure is all mine." she said returning lighthearted teasing manner.
"You said you were a Player?" she asked, running her finger absently along the handle of her tankard. She had never really had a chance to talk to any players and was interested in what he might have to say about his lifestyle. "Do you enjoy it?"
"But I suppose it's a bit worse in your trade."
She cocked an eyebrow at him. "No more so than in the life of any other member of the Rogue, at least not as far as I'm concerned." She paused, "What makes you think so?"

"You said you were a Player? Do you enjoy it?"
"Hard not to." He took a gulp from his tankard. "I playact for a living. Tell me you wouldn't enjoy that." He smiled at her.
"No more so than in the life of any other member of the Rogue, at least not as far as I'm concerned. What makes you think so?"
Sahele grinned. "I don't need to deal with the Dogs. They don't bother us. Except the ones involved in the Rogue. I just pay my debts and smile." He laughed. "I'm sure the Dogs can get involved annoyin'ly involved--with some of th' Rogue business."
