Markkus laughed quietly at the girl's choke.
"Really? Do you know what the Queen thinks of this Prince? And, even more important, how much of a chance do you think he has?"
"I think he has a reasonable chance...I'm not quite sure on what she thinks, though there should be some reports by tomorrow," Markkus replied, shifiting position and taking another drink. "I mean, if I were a female, which I'm not," he added on tactfully. "He wouldn't quite be my type. He looks a little too...glossy for my liking."
Although bringing up what his taste in men would be if he were a women prooved (sp?) to be a strange subject, it most likely would rouse conversation, or else bring out something to tease him on. Either way, it had been brought up, so he waited to see what followed with impec(c?)able (sp?) interest.

Adina listened with interest, sipping her ale as Markkus spoke.
"He wouldn't quite be my type. He looks a little too...glossy for my liking."
She smiled, amused by Markkus' way of describing his views of men's looks. "I wouldn't think you'd have much of a "type" if you were female." She commented,
She took another deep gulp before continuing, "Come to think of it, you don't really have a "type" as a male, do you?"
As soon as she asked it, she realized that perhaps that wasn't the wisest comment.

"I wouldn't think you'd have much of a "type" if you were female....Come to think of it, you don't really have a "type" as a male, do you?"
Markkus raised an eyebrow. He was suprised at her bold remarks, though she might have been a little drunk already, or something.
He tilted his head slightly. "I suppose not," he replied in a strange tone that made it clear that that was an akward subject.
Markkus looked away, hoping Adina's response wouldn't be too apologetic, nor too much at ease with the conversation. He simply brushed his index finger back and forth slightly on the handle of the tankard.

Adina, feeling slightly lightheaded, recognized that she had probably said something to make Markkus feel uncomfortable. She flushed.
"Was I too bold?" she asked, covering a slight hiccough. "I'm sorry, I was out of line, wasn't I?"
She fell silent for a moment, drinking from her tankard at periodic intervals. "Do you have any special plans for Beltane?" she asked, trying to bridge the awkward lag in conversation.

"Was I too bold?...I'm sorry, I was out of line, wasn't I?"
Markkus couldn't help but grin. "Eh...only a little. Nothing really." Well, it sounded unnatural, but it was better than outright telling her. She already knew anyway.
"Do you have any special plans for Beltane?"
Markkus shifted his position again. "Emm....not at the moment." He laughed lightly. "I haven't really been thinking of such things, lately."
Realizing that that would provoke what he had been thinking of lately, he regretted (sp?) on saying what he had. He hadn't really been thinking of anything of great importance lately. About nobles coming, the latest gossip, et cetera.

Adina glanced down at her lap, feeling slightly awkward and more than a little hazy. Perhaps a strong drink hadn't been such a good idea...
"Emm....not at the moment." He laughed lightly. "I haven't really been thinking of such things, lately."
"Really?" She asked, hoping that they had found a safe subject to discuss. "I seem to have found very few people who've given it no thought at all, whether it be how many purses they can cut at the festival or with whom to jump over the embers. What has been occupying your time, then?"
Remembering that Markkus was King of the Rogue, she added on, "Or is that information confidential?"

Markkus watched the girl carefully as she looked down at her lap. He took another drink himself. It was strong, but then again - she had ordered it.
"Really?" She asked, hoping that they had found a safe subject to discuss. "I seem to have found very few people who've given it no thought at all, whether it be how many purses they can cut at the festival or with whom to jump over the embers. What has been occupying your time, then?"
Markkus laughed softly. "Yes, I have heard quite about it lately. You could say I've thought about it briefly. Again, I don't have any special planned at the moment."
"Or is that information confidential?"
Markkus just remembered that she had asked about what had been on his mind. He didn't have a very impressive answer for that, so he found it best not to reply at all. It was safe to think she wouldn't ask again.

"Yes, I have heard quite about it lately. You could say I've thought about it briefly. Again, I don't have any special planned at the moment."
"You will be going to the festival, though, won't you?" she asked, unable to imagine Markkus at any point of his life, even as King of the Rogue, missing a Beltane festival. She readjusted herself on her seat, pushing the now empty tankard away from her with some effort on her part.
"Tell me, are there more people at this table than usual? It most certainly looks like there are..."

"You will be going to the festival, though, won't you?"
Markkus grinned, taking his last sip of ale.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," he replied. "I assume you are as well?"
Tell me, are there more people at this table than usual? It most certainly looks like there are..."
Was Adina drunk?
"Eh..."Markkus said, glancing around. "No, there's still only you and I."
Markkus, still a bit unsure of what the girl had been asking, put his tankard down. He felt like he could almost use another, but Adina didn't look like she was feeling the same.

"I assume you are as well?"
She laughed lightly. "Oh of course, it would be a career killer not to, never mind that I actually quite enjoy the festival."
She trailed off, feeling unnaturally dizzy. She heard Markkus mention something, but couldn't determine his words. "I think I need a glass of water..."

"Oh of course, it would be a career killer not to, never mind that I actually quite enjoy the festival."
Markkus grinned. "If you're earning money I doubt you have much time for seeing the festival."
Adina probably couldn't hear what Markkus was saying, but he needed to keep the conversation going, in order for her to not feel embaressed.
"I think I need a glass of water..."
Now, there was no doubt that Adina didn't really know what was being said. Markkus replied quietly, "I think you need one too."
He snapped his finger loudly, receiving the bartender's attention. "Glass of water," he ordered quickly.

"If you're earning money I doubt you have much time for seeing the festival."
Adina gave him a slightly exasparated look. The logistics of working and seeing the festival was the last thing she felt like talking with Markkus about. "I'm sure you know what I mean. Besides, I see enough."
She heard Markkus call for a glass of water and gave him a grateful look. "Thank you." She said with a smile. "I'm not quite sure what my problem is. I've managed this much before..."
(OOC: sorry, Ali, short. I have to get off the comp due to an eyeache.)

"I'm sure you know what I mean. Besides, I see enough."
Markkus tried not to grin, seeing as it was a bad thing to bring up. He watched as Adina received her glass of water, shifting position.
"Thank you. I'm not quite sure what my problem is. I've managed this much before..."
Markkus simply shrugged.
"It's been an unusual day for all of us." Still observing Adina with much amusement, he went on to say, "Uh...maybe you should rest for a while. It is getting quite late."

"Uh...maybe you should rest for a while. It is getting quite late."
Adina laughed, sounding, even to herself, rather dizzy. "Oh no, I'll stay around here for a little longer. After all, it's been so long since I've been able to talk to you..." she trailed off, watching the barman walk by.
"Excuse me, sir, could I have another one of these?" She asked, raising her water glass.
As the barman grunted, she turned back to Markkus, "So, tell me, what has made your day so unusual?"

"So, tell me, what has made your day so unusual?"
Markkus turned his head to the bartender as he handed Adina another glass of water.
"Oh, you know. All of this talk about nobles wandering around here...spies, I think I've been told. With Beltane coming up, I suppose it should be quite busy, though I've found I've had much more free time than usual."
He stopped himself before saying that it was also a bit unusual for Adina and he to be talking again. Although it probably would have been okay, he didn't bother risking making Adina uncomfortable. She obviously still wanted to stay and talk.
