"You're forgetting my mother. I hate being match-made."
"Ah. I'd forgotten about that part of it. But is fear of match-making the only reason you're still in the city? I'd imagine you'd find a great deal of match-making here as well."
"but there are some places you have to avoid. Like the wall with the hand-holds in. Drunk students come over that at about two in the morning."
She furrowed her brow, not quite following Annikka's thought process. "Did you learn from personal experience or was it just a widely known fact about University survival?"

Annikka smiled. "No, actually, no really. My friends have stopped trying to set me up, two of my brothers leave well alone and my father prefers his country estates. The other brother and the sisters are a problem, but only when they're in Corus and I'm not busy. And I am busy."
"Did you learn from personal experience or was it just a widely known fact about University survival?"
Annikka grinned at Adina's confusion. "Widely-known fact. It was one of those places you avoid."

Adina nodded. "I see your point. Do you still go back often?"
"Widely-known fact. It was one of those places you avoid."
"Ah. If you don't mind me saying so, I was having a hard time imagining you in a shady area of the University."
(OOC: sorry, got to run.)

Adina nodded. "I see your point. Do you still go back often?"
Annikka shook her head. "No. I don't have time. There's still a lot that needs doing- well, there's always a lot that needs doing, but there's more for me to do because I'm new to the job."
"Ah. If you don't mind me saying so, I was having a hard time imagining you in a shady area of the University."
Annikka shrugged. "Most people avoided them, really, unless they needed to be there."

"Did your family approve of your being away so long without chaperonage? I know that most people are sent to court and marry within a year or so. If I were your parents, I'd wonder what was holding you up." She grinned, having always found the antics of noble parents quite amusing.
"Most people avoided them, really, unless they needed to be there."
"Ah. I see. I suppose there's one of those places everywhere."

Annikka shrugged again. "They can disapprove away. Aside from my mother and some cousins, I'm the only one with magic. They sent me to learn to become a healer- they encouraged me to become one. They have children enough to marry off. That said," she added, "Mother has been hinting recently..." Her expression clearly showed what she thought of that.
"Ah. I see. I suppose there's one of those places everywhere."
"In my experience, there's always a couple of places people have to be warned off."

"Mother has been hinting recently..." Adina laughed lightly at Annikka's facial expression, clearly showing her opinion. "Are you planning on marrying at all, then?" she asked "If that's not too personal a question..." "In my experience, there's always a couple of places people have to be warned off." "True." she allowed. "Though, with my luck, I'm that person who only learns their location with experience." She glanced about the teashop, wondering how long they'd been sitting there. (OOC: there ya go. If you want to continue this, do so, if not, I have given you an escape clause. )

(OOC: Shall we wind it down?)
"Are you planning on marrying at all, then?" she asked "If that's not too personal a question..."
Annikka wrinkled her nose. "The day I find someone I care for, and who cares for me, and doesn't want me to let go of my independence, I'll marry him. Maybe. It all depends."
"True." she allowed. "Though, with my luck, I'm that person who only learns their location with experience."
Annikka smiled. "I know what you mean." She looked out of the tea shop's window and pulled a face. "I think I need to be somewhere soon. Meetings. Horrible."

Adina nodded and said thoughtfully, "I'm not really sure myself. I suppose sooner or later, but..." she shrugged.
"I think I need to be somewhere soon. Meetings. Horrible."
Adina groaned. "I should be getting back, too. I've been out too long..." She began to rise. "It was very nice to meet you. I really enjoyed myself."

(OOC: About time, frankly.)
Adina nodded and said thoughtfully, "I'm not really sure myself. I suppose sooner or later, but..." she shrugged.
"I think there must be a whole generation of women like that," Annikka observed. "All the lady knights, the girl pages and squires, some of the healers I know. Queen Emeli, Princess Anitha, you, me..."
"I should be getting back, too. I've been out too long..." She began to rise. "It was very nice to meet you. I really enjoyed myself."
Annikka smiled at Adina as they stood. "It was good to meet you, too. The annoying thing about being a healer is you meet other healers more than anyone else, and your friends are mostly healers, and you talk of healery things." She made a face. "Embolisms are all very well theoretically speaking, but not at the dinner table."

Adina smiled. "I wonder how long that breed will survive...somehow I doubt society likes us much."

She smiled. "Well, I hope I was a refreshing change."
She glanced out at street. "I suppose I should be on my way. Perhaps I'll run into you again, some time."

"I wonder how long that breed will survive...somehow I doubt society likes us much."
Annikka laughed. "Society will just have to get used to us; I'm going nowhere, believe you me."
"Well, I hope I was a refreshing change."
"Very much so." Annikka looked out of the window again. "Damn- I'm going to be late. My deputies will kill me... fun. Maybe I'll see you some other time." She gathered up her packages, waved at the other girl, and left.
