(OOC: Annikka doesn't swear much, mildly or strongly, outside a medical emergency. But she does here.)
"Long, if you don't mind. I'm in no rush to go anywhere."
Annikka gave her a rather futile death glare. "You love gossip, don't you?" Not waiting for a response, she carried on: "A few years ago, I went out for Beltane with Markus and some other friends. Who is very fanciable, and very kind, and very impetuous, and isn't known for thinking ahead. Um. We got separated from the other friends by means of a large crowd and a card game Markus and I didn't take part in. And he joined a drinking game in a random tavern just for the hell of it, and then made me join. I'd already had two drinks, and-" she waved her hands helplessly- "I'm not good with alcohol. I got very, very drunk and I don't really remember anything I said, but apparently I was flirting like nobody's business. Er. Markus dragged me out of the tavern while a small riot cause unknown was happening, and we got to the Palace. Except I passed out near the girls' side of the apprentice wing at the healers. And Markus had to carry me back to my room. And was seen exiting said room in the bloody early hours of the bloody morning by at least three bloody people. Because it was the early hours of the morning by the time we got back. And the Palace being what it is..." She shrugged. "Nothing ever happened. But everyone damn well thinks it did, and that's worse."

"You love gossip, don't you?"
Adina grinned guiltily, unable to deny the fact. There was something about being a member of the Rogue that made gossip a necessity. She had found the snippets of gossip made for the best information at the oddest of moments.
"Nothing ever happened. But everyone damn well thinks it did, and that's worse."
She winced, seeing that this clearly bothered Annikka. Personally, she had never let gossip bother her too greatly, as long as it was not severely damaging, and to her mind, one night affairs between to people, specifically on Beltane, were all too common to be bothersome.
"Did this affect your relationship with Markkus at all?" she asked, curiously before adding, "It seems to bother you greatly."

"Did this affect your relationship with Markkus at all?"Adina asked, curiously before adding, "It seems to bother you greatly."
"A bit. He's always saying I should loosen up, take life and other people less seriously, joking around, and-" she smiled apologetically at Adina- "frankly, deserves a good kick in the shins every now and then. And it does bother me!" She tapped her fingers on the table crossly. "It nearly stopped me getting this job, and when Markus was promoted- deservedly, and not by me- only a few weeks ago, well, if I had a silver noble for every time someone hinted I'd had something to do with it!... And I don't lie. Not if I can help it. So when people sort of look at me when I say the rumour's not true, as if they're doubting what I say, it makes me angry."

Adina nodded, trying to conceal her amusement. Realizing that she was about to fail, she said a quick, "Excuse me" before falling subject to some violent giggling.
"I'm sorry," she said, once she had aquired her voice again, "I just find it all quite amusing. Perhaps I've grown too used to such things, though. Is this the first time your name has been connected with something...less than parental approved of?"
She paused for a moment before suggesting, "What would happen if you gave a sacrastic reply that yes indeed you did let down your guard for a while, and of course you were trying to keep your friends close, because who knows when little Annikka or Markus jr. might need a sibling?"

"Not funny," Annikka growled, slumping further in her seat, bit unable to resist just a twitch of amusement at the corners of her mouth.
"I just find it all quite amusing. Perhaps I've grown too used to such things, though. Is this the first time your name has been connected with something...less than parental approved of?"
"No," and now her voice turned sarcastic and she sat up straight again. "I'm as good as gold. Never upset my parents, obey the letter of the law, make periodical offerings in the right places, always polite."
"What would happen if you gave a sacrastic reply that yes indeed you did let down your guard for a while, and of course you were trying to keep your friends close, because who knows when little Annikka or Markus jr. might need a sibling?"
Annikka's eyes widened. "See, that's why I am the good girl. All hells would break loose! My parents are not liberal, to put it mildly."

Adina raised her eybrows in astonishment. "You mean that all that time at the University you caused no rumours, no scene, not anything? I didn't think such students existed."
"See, that's why I am the good girl. All hells would break loose! My parents are not liberal, to put it mildly."
She clicked her tongue. "My Father's very conventional. I understand your meaning. But if you said it with just the right tone of sarcasm, or just enjoyed their wide eyes at the news...Personally, I always enjoyed using that tactic with annoying questions." She shrugged.

"Other than that rumour?" Annikka smiled. "Not a one. I know I'm unusual."
"My Father's very conventional. I understand your meaning. But if you said it with just the right tone of sarcasm, or just enjoyed their wide eyes at the news...Personally, I always enjoyed using that tactic with annoying questions."
"My father would order me out of the house and my mother would flutter," Annikka said frankly. "They don't quite understand sarcasm. It's something that happens to other people.

Adina normally would have been surprised to find that Annikka had been involved in very few shady activities during her University Years, yet, somehow she wasn't all that shocked. From this conversation, Annikka seemed to be one of those people who lived her life quite conventionally.
"My father would order me out of the house and my mother would flutter," Annikka said frankly. "They don't quite understand sarcasm. It's something that happens to other people.
Adina cocked her head in interest. "Really? What a dull household that must be, if you don't mind me saying so."

"Really? What a dull household that must be, if you don't mind me saying so."
Annikka grinned. "No. I have a lot of brothers, and we spent most of our time outside. My home fief is a lovely place. Full of mountains, but lovely. I used to take cake, an apple and a bottle of water out and spend an afternoon running wild. The convent was a horrible shock to my independent sensibilities, but it did prepare me a little for city life."

"The convent was a horrible shock to my independent sensibilities, but it did prepare me a little for city life."
Adina was somewhat confused at this. Convents had always seemed dull and uninteresting places to her. It seemed somewhat odd to think that a time at such an institution would broaden one's view of life. Choosing her words carefully, she asked,
"Really? I'm somewhat surprised. Over all, are you glad to have a attended the Convent?"

"Really? I'm somewhat surprised. Over all, are you glad to have a attended the Convent?"
Annikka snorted and rearranged her packages again. "Didn't have any choice in the matter. My parents sent me. It was six very boring years, but at least they had a very good library. And they did teach me some healing. Enough to be up to standard when I went to do my healer-apprenticeship. Mind you, there were some lessons that were absolute torture." She shuddered. "Like learning to dance. I kept standing on people's feet for the entire first year."

Adina furrowed her brow. It did sound quite boring...
"I'm sorry, I don't understand how that could have prepared you for city life..."
Thinking for a moment about this, she continued,
"Did you go immediately to University after your time at the Convent? I'd imagien taht would be quite different."
For all that she had a quieter lifestyle than most in her position, Annikka was proving to be a very interesting person.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand how that could have prepared you for city life..."
Annikka grinned sourly. "By being a city, or part of one. As opposed to my lovely, mountainous home fief."
"Did you go immediately to University after your time at the Convent? I'd imagien taht would be quite different."
"Oh, yes. Very different." She winced. "Sometimes people were sick in the corridors."

(OOC: I arrived just as you left. ) "By being a city, or part of one. As opposed to my lovely, mountainous home fief.""If you preferred your fief so much, what ever made you decide to stay in the city?" Adina asked with interest. "Oh, yes. Very different." She winced. "Sometimes people were sick in the corridors." Adina grinned at Annikka's wince. "I'd imagine that it was quite a change. Did you enjoy your time there, eventually?" Although she had never had any particular interest in attending a University, Adina had been interested in what such an institution would be like. (OOC: sorry for the shortness)

(OOC: Aww.)
"If you preferred your fief so much, what ever made you decide to stay in the city?"
Annikka gave Adina an 'are you serious?' look. "You're forgetting my mother. I hate being match-made."
"I'd imagine that it was quite a change. Did you enjoy your time there, eventually?"
"Well, yes," Annikka said. "I mean, it is an interesting place. More freedom than the convent. I made friends." She thought for a moment, then added, "but there are some places you have to avoid. Like the wall with the hand-holds in. Drunk students come over that at about two in the morning."
