Hey y'all. I think I can be pretty safe in assuming that most of you here already know me - and you're probably all popping your eyes that I finally got round to signing up here. I guess it just took that extra push. Don't expect my character application just yet - one baby step at a time, after all. For those that don't know me (or those that do, for that matter), ask any questions and they shall be answered. Anyway, I was looking through the rules and such and I'm a bit confuzzled in places. Shall I post the issues here, or email one of the mods? - Gem

*waves to Aly and May* Oh, sshh May. Anyway, I discovered that by finding the linkie in my Firefox history I could get into 'Dove chat still, so there. This was my question (remembering that I've never been involved in an RPG before): in the rules, you say: "7. Do not control another person's character without his or her permission. This is called godmodding. Nobody likes it; it annoys people, and you won't earn yourself any friends." When you say 'controlling' a character, what exactly do you mean? Does this mean that when you post you can literally only write about your character? What about when you're wanting to have a conversation with another character? Also: "8. Remember that your character can only be one place at a time. However, each character may be in four threads at once." HUH? Does this mean that the same thing can be going on in four different threads? Or when you say "place" is it a broader term - as in, anywhere in the palace, as opposed to a particular room in the palace? I was going to ask how I could change the time zone too, but I worked that one out. ^^ Thank you! ETA: I have another question! What's the karma under the avvies about?

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!*tacklesquishglomphugglesquee* Eyes popping? More like popping x20, love. When I was waiting for the comp. to log me in, I was like, "Oh my goodness! Gem is here! Yay! Yay!" For rule #7, it basically means you cannot controll another characters actions. Say your character is Mary, and mine is Sue. If you're posting a reply, you can't say, "Sue looked concerned." or something of such sorts. If I said, "Sue chugged down a bottle of rum." , it would be safe for you to say, "Mary watched with a look of disgust as Sue chugged down a bottle of rum" etc. No writing dialouge for other people's characters either. You can probably guess that the text that has been "bolded" is something the other char. spoke, and you're posting a reply to that convo. I hope that clears that up a bit xDD I take it to mean that your character can be at the Sewing Shop in the morning, but you can also participate a thread that takes place at the palace in the late evening, but not the morning. ^^ I think that's right =P Karma - Uh...I don't know - just don't smite someone xDD Giving karma to someone is a good thing avvies - just the fun little pics - no purpose

Giving karma means you like that person. Smiting them means you're pissed off at that mo' fo'.

so it took a broken chat to lure you over here. now that you're here...*hangs lovely little welcome sign held up by lovely little tacks on a lovely little wall* Don't ask me why everything is lovely and little now. ah yes. Rule 7 can be awkward at times. Basically it just means control your own character and don't make assumptions as to what your conversation partner is going to do.

Okay, thanks everyone! I think I understand now, although I'm still a tad confused over where and when my character can be at one time, but I think that'll come when I start taking part. (Kally - I love your avvie.)

ah. your character can be in one thread per RP-day but up to three (I think it is) threads, as long as they're on different days RP-time.
(ooh, thankies.)
