When summoned his gift can light fires, make light, heal small wounds and do a few other simple things. He had some training at home from his sister before getting further training during his page days. Because his brother's don't have the gift he respects those without the gift and doesn't treat them any differently. He likes his gift and it makes him feel a little more useful.
Family: Mother and Father, Lady Bridget and Lord Avan of Mandash. Older brother, Gavril, is 21 and the heir to the family. Older sister, Adrianna, 18, married to a Gallan Duke. Younger Brother, Leigh, 13, is a third year page. Younger sister, Nicola, is 10 years old.
Physical Description: Tall for his age at five foot eight (180 cm), he has curly brown hair and bright blue eyes. His well muscled but not overly so, he is also lightly tanned. Personality: Usually quiet around strangers he is very outgoing at home and around his close friends. He makes friends easily but at the same time he makes enemy just as easily. He has a very quick temper and will be ready to fight for himself, his family or his friends.
His temper aside he is very polite and kind. He is also very curious by nature, he loves learning new things. Although he is a second year squire he is considered the scholar of the family rather than the warrior as his younger brother can easily best him. He enjoys reading and asking questions.
Kaleo is the best at the bow. He can beat any squire and most of the knights at a shooting competition. But when it comes to the sword and staff he was close to hopeless. At hand to hand combat and knives he is average if not a little above.
He is okay with girls, he has his share of admirers but not as many as some of his more handsome classmates. However he has better luck in approaching them as he has always been close to his older sister, Adrianna. He rarely drinks as he finds it makes him too light headed. Usually an honest person Kaleo will occasionally lie when it suits his purpose. He believes lies are ok as long as a good intention is behind them.
History: As the third child and second son, Kaleo was never spoilt by his parents, his parent’s were rarely there, his father was always about doing this errand and that for the King and by the time he was five his mother was busy with his two younger siblings. However his older siblings more then made up for that. He looks up to his sister and brother as he would parents rather than his actual parents. His sister was forever teaching him this and that until she had to leave for the convent. His brother, whenever he could, would teach him a bit about the fighting arts and life in general.
When Adrianna left for the Covent, Kaleo at the age of seven had become the older brother at home. His mother took sick not long after and Kaleo was left the responsibility of taking care of Leigh and Nicola. Not long after his eighth birthday, Kaleo lost his mother to a fever. He was sent off to the palace to become a page at the age of ten even though he had wanted to become a scholar.
During the time his mother took sick till the time he left for the palace he became very close to his brother Leigh but he still finds that he has a special something with Adrianna and will go to her for any problems.
At the palace he met his first friends outside of his family. Slowly he accepted his fate and applied himself to his studies as a page. He is beginning to enjoy his training although he won't admit it to himself. He still holds onto that dream of becoming a scholar. At the age of fourteen he was lucky enough to be asked by Sir Joseph to be his squire.
Role Play Sample:
“Kaleo!”
Startled, Kaleo quickly closed the book he was reading and shoved it under the nearest couch before picking up his sword and began to clean it. He heard footsteps coming down the hallway before his door opened to reveal his father, home from his latest assignment.
Looking up Kaleo smiled, “Hello father, what brings you to my room at this time?”
Although Kaleo had a rough idea he hoped he was wrong, his tenth birthday had just passed and his father had yet to speak to him about his future. It was late afternoon now, his siblings will have retired to their rooms to prepared for dinner.
“I believe you know my boy. Your older brother is now a squire to none other than the King’s Champion. Your sister is doing well at the convent. Now it is your turn, it is time for you to go to the palace and become a page in the place of your brother.”
“But, father, you know that is not what I want. I would prefer to go to the city of the gods and study and become a scholar of sorts.”
Avan sighed as he sat down on the couch next to his second son. “Kaleo, I believe that if you followed this path you would come to regret it. A scholar does not command as much respect as a knight. You would not have the advantage of the luxurious life I want for you.”
“But Father….”
“No, buts. I simply ask for you to trust me on this son. You will go to the Palace in three days time to begin your training. You shall become a great knight and that will be the end of it.”
As Kaleo prepared to argue, to fight for his dream his father stood and shook his head walking out the door. Biting his lip Kaleo stood not noticing the sword that clang to the floor. Eyes snapping in fury he hit the closest thing and punched the wall not noticing the blood dripping onto the carpet.
