Your Name: Ali
Character's Name: Kaitelanna Delarendiere
Age and Birthday: 32, July 14th
Race: ½ Tortallan, ½ Kyprish (sp?)
Social Standing: noble
Profession: Advisor
Place of Residence: Corus Palace
Magic (if applicable): Kaitelanna has the Sight, although only the ability to tell if one is telling the truth. She is proud of this ability and puts it to good use, though she doesn’t tell anyone but her closest of friends, as she does’t want others to be extra cautious about what they say to her. (Ugh…this is a bit unclear, but I’m not quite sure of how to explain this)
While meeting others with the Gift or the Sight, Kaitelanna treats them no differently as she would any other person. Though she doesn't like to admit it, she may be a tad bit jealous of powerful mages.
Family: Kaitelanna was born into a wealthy family. Her father, Farren is rich merchant from Unicorn, and her mother, Rebeccanne, is originally from the Copper Isles, although she has lived in Tortall most of her life with her husband.
Kaitelanna has almost never had any personal relationship with her parents, as nurses always took care of her when young. After that, she was sent off to several finishing schools and whatever academies or training schools would take her in until she was eighteen. Now, Kaitelanna is not in contact with her family and would care less if they were poor and dying.
Physical Description: Kaitelanna is highly attractive and will do anything to stay that way. She takes great care in her beauty and appearance, and fashion is quite important to her. Whether it’s starving herself or wearing a barrel, she keeps in the latest fashions. She is about 5’6 and her skin is medium-tan tone. Never allowing herself to eat too much, she is quite thin. She has a delicate build, and always appears polished and tidy. Most people think she is much younger than she actually is, as she takes great care to hide any features that would distinguish her age.
Her face shape resembles an oval, with no distinct point for a chin or sharp cheekbones. She has deep green eyes, a feature she is clueless on how she inherited, as her mother was from the Copper Isles and had brown eyes. She has thin, brownish-pinkish colored lips rarely showing a smile.
When Kaitelanna is pleased or amused, her smile shows no teeth as they aren’t all that straight. She has what you might call an “evil grin” instead, although if you catch her jumping for joy she will most likely smile widely.
Kaitelanna’s dark brown hair reaches halfway down her back. It is easy to maintain and wavy, which she absolutely hates, If she can manage, she likes to keep it up, or else spends hours trying to straighten it out. Most times she follows the latest styles, so if it is most popularly worn down, she is quite unhappy.
As said before, Kaitelanna tries to keep in the latest fashions clothing wise. Usually, she likes to wear whites, or neutral colors such as yellow or tan. Pastels also work well, though she only wears bold colors when forced. For jewelry, she wears earrings, sometimes bracelets and necklaces. Wearing rings bother her. They just don’t work with her fingers.
Personality: Kaitelanna will do anything to keep well liked and highly attractive. Although she is known for being manipulative and selfish, she still finds herself quite popular. She has never been quite sure if this is because others are too afraid not to like her, but it seems to be working out.
On the outside, like her physical appearance, she seems polite, sophisticated, and ordinary. Once you get to know her, of course, that may change around a bit.
Kaitelanna likes to have connections. She tries to befriend Rogues, other advisors, nobles, and shopkeepers. Basically, everyone she meets. Because of so many connections, she has become a “make you or break you” kind of woman. She maintains a wide range of ‘friends’, but she’ll betray them at the snap of a finger if it will help her get what she wants. Lying to friends and keeping secrets are parts of her daily life, and she has no problems with this if it will help her out. Buying friendship, loyalty, or bribing people to keep secrets has never bothered her. Although she hates gossip, she tries to keep updated with it just to know what others are discussing. Discreetly framing others or blackmailing them is also just part of her every-day procedure.
She is very independent – she learned she had to be when her parents avoided her and tried to send her off every chance they got. She trusts no one, as no one should trust her. To her great pleasure, many people are forced to.
Self-seeking and ambitious would be good ways to describe Kaitelanna. She’ll do most anything to get what she wants. She is stubborn and cannot be discouraged easily. She’ll try to get something, and if it doesn’t work out she’ll try something else. Most times she succeeds in her little plots, though when she doesn’t it’s “try, try again.” Strategizing is one of her strongest points, though some of her plans come out absurd. She works quickly.
Kaitelanna tries to be the person she appears. Although she tries hard not to care about anyone else’s feelings, she finds that she does have a soft spot. She tries to ignore it, but if she actually falls in love or is guilted into something, she can be relatively kind.
Flirting is not something Kaitelanna enjoys, although if it is needed in her plans she will use her ‘feminine wiles’. Often times, she finds herself trying to capture hearts, only so she can hope that she can get a favor or two out of them. Her heart can be taken, though she has very distinct tastes in men.
As for the royal family, Kaitelanna cannot stand Emeli's ways of ruling. Too kind, too gentle, too much everything. Although this is so, Kaitelanna doesn't mind working with her that much, though she is much harder to persuade than most. She would rather have most anyone rule in Emeli's place, her sister, another advisor, and of course, herself. Although she has never had a real drive to become queen or attempted to take over, she likes to leave the window open. Right now, she is fine without that much power.
History: Kaitelanna was born under the rich Delarendiere family. Different nurses constantly took care of her until she was old enough to be sent to academies and schools. She was sent to different finishing schools, other distant relatives, whatever places would take her. Although at first, she did not understand why this was being done and was quite upset, she decided that it had taught her a lot. You can’t depend on anyone to care for you or do anything for you. She made several friends in the schools, picked up on a few crafty tricks she can play, though she never enjoyed having to attend them.
When she was eighteen, she traveled to the outskirts of Corus Palace where she read frequently and became more knowledgeable in Diplomacy and History. She got hired in various odd jobs and finally worked her way into the palace. When she was twenty-five she became one of the queen’s advisors and has been working as an advisor for seven years. She knows no combat or any ways of self-defense except using her wits, which don’t always come in handy. Although she doesn’t like being in this state, she is too lazy to take the time to become skilled in swordplay or anything like it. She is decent at playing the piano, although she never has time to play and imagines herself to be quite out of practice.
Although her position as an advisor suits her, less is never more.
Role Play Sample: Kaitelanna collapsed onto the red velvet armchair, sighing heavily. Although she hadn’t done much that day, she was tired out.
“Is anything wrong?” asked the young maid that was currently scurrying about Kaitelanna’s room.
“Something will be wrong if you’re nosing about in other people’s business,” she replied tiredly as she closed her eyes to rest.
“Yes, of course, m’lady,” the girl said quickly as she hurriedly exited the room.
Kaitelanna sighed again as she mulled over her day. Breakfast, nothing. Lunch, meeting with Emeli, nothing. Dinner, nothing again. A fairly ordinary and dull day.
The maid opening her door interrupted her thoughts. “Oh, and m’lady, I was to tell you that you –“
As the maid babbled on, Kaitelanna sighed once more. “Have you ever heard that ‘silence is golden’?”
“But m’lady, I must tell you that—“
“Oh, just shut up.”
Picture: I could try to draw something, but ugh that wouldn’t be pretty.
NOTE: Still waiting on Aly's final approval.
