Your Name: Molly
Character's Name: Caden Laken
Age and Birthday: 26, April 4
Race: Tortallan
Social Standing: Noble
Profession: Lone Knight
Place of Residence: The Palace at the moment, usually random inns, and more often the ground
Magic (if applicable): Caden is free from any gift and is thankful for one less burden.
Family:
Father: Parm- He was always around, until he wasn’t. Parm was a doting father and died of illness when Caden was 18. He did his best with raising his children and keeping track of his estates.
Mother: Gilda- Caden barely had a chance to know her, for she died in childbirth with Caden’s sister when he was only two.
Brother: Mattei- Caden’s older brother by two years. When their father died, Mattei took over the estates.
Sister: Gabriella- Caden’s younger sister by two years. She and Caden were fairly close until Caden went to the palace to try for knighthood.
Physical Description: Caden is a strongly built young man with a body that sometimes attracts young women to him. He has black hair that is trimmed back so he can see around him. His sharp green eyes usually offset any clothes he wears, so that forces him to wear neutral colors. He usually wears soft breeches and a shirt, but can often be found in mail.
Eight years is a long time to be a knight, and with experience comes many scars. Caden’s most notable scar is one he received from a mock sword fight in the beginning of his years as a knight. During the duel, Caden was slashed down his left arm. It is the only scar he has that is hard to cover with clothing, for it cuts across part of his hand too. His face is miraculously free from any marks and is sometimes called handsome.
Personality: Caden always strove to be better. He followed his brother’s footsteps and wanted to become a knight. His family knew him as a sweet boy who always gave and hardly ever took. Caden loved his family and was very close to all of them. When Caden formed attachments, they were true and he was devoted to that person. In fact, Caden seemed to care more about others than himself. Everything changed when his father died, and Caden shocked his family by leaving soon after he earned his shield.
In more recent years, Caden became slowly hard. He saw many things on his travels that changed him. Now, he is more quiet and reserved. He still has the quality of forming strong attachments, but he is more select in his choices. He also holds this true for young ladies. Some he likes, but others he makes it plain he doesn't. Caden usually treats women with the same attitude as everything else. He is civil and can be harsh when need be. It's hard to know if Caden likes a woman, even he does not know it sometimes. Being excellent at shielding his feelings, he can leave a woman guessing what he really thinks.
History: Caden had a relatively simple childhood, growing up, in Corus, under the eye of his father. He always had a thirst for knowledge of other places and how things worked. He never really cared about his mother’s death. He wasn’t attached to her because he was so young when she died. When Caden was eight, his brother left to begin his page training. From that moment on, Caden decided he wanted to be just like his brother and become a knight too.
Caden’s father agreed and sent his youngest son off to the palace two years later. Caden was an excellent pupil and all of his teachers had high hopes for him. His father visited often and the bond between the two of them was tightened. Just weeks before Caden was to earn his shield, his father succumbed to a mysterious illness. Caden was devastated. Something inside him changed and as soon as he was knighted, he left. He just told his family that he wanted to travel.
Caden traveled to the places he had learned about as a boy. He saw many things that changed him and some sights stayed with him forever. He journeyed for eight years before he got a letter from one of his old teachers, asking him to come back. Hesitantly, he returned to Corus, unsure of what he was doing. He decided to stay in one of the rooms that the palace offers for nobles, instead of going back home.
Role Play Sample:
Caden walked into the inn and his harsh green eyes took in the once familiar sights. It had been nearly eight years since he had been back to Corus and it had hardly changed a bit. He thought he had left all this behind when he decided to leave, but Caden’s old teacher had still found a way to him. Caden still wasn’t exactly sure how the letter had found him, but it did, and that had to mean something. His mentor had asked him to come back as quick as possible, and so he did. Which brought him to this inn.
“Caden,” a familiar husky voice called from across the room. Caden quickly found his old companion and strode toward him.
“Larseld,” Caden said, gripping the other man’s arm, “It’s good to see you.”
