Your Name: Illiandra – Illi or Andra for short (or Illia)
Character's Name:
Ailisandra “Aili” Delmaran (Ay-lih-sahndruh “Aylee” Del-mahr-en)
Age and Birthday: 24; born May 17th
Race: Scanran
Social Standing: Lower/Middle Class
Profession: Player
Place of Residence: Corus
Magic (if applicable):
None, though she wishes she were Gifted—it looks fun!—and is envious of those who are
Family:
Father – Anders Delmaran is a drunk who managed to squander his family inheritance on food and drink without managing to make a living on his own. If he hasn't drunk himself to death yet, he's probably still living in their old home in Scanra.
Mother – Mikaela Delmaran was a well known courtesan in one of Scanra's larger towns. Anders, a young heir who had frequented her home, had promised her a life without toil and so she agreed to marry him. Unfortunately, Anders was not the ideal husband and often sold her out in order to have more money for alcohol. She died of sickness when Aili was 15.
Physical Description:
Ailisandra is petite of form (about 5'2'') with a heart shaped, cherubic face and bright blue eyes. Though she is well into her twenties, she appears much younger and often uses a charmingly petulant pout of her lips and wide, watery eyes to get her way. She is neither curvy nor flat, but rather an unremarkable balance of both that manages to redeem her sweetly childish features.
She finds it entertaining to dress in more youthful styles with her Scanran blonde locks arranged in a tumultuous tumble of curls about her naked face. Aside from fooling onlookers, it also prevents, to a certain degree, advances from men seeking other faculties from an otherwise unattached young woman. Aili prefers skirts and dresses, though for practicality's sake, she will sometimes wear breeches while on the road with the troupe, especially if bandits are afoot. On very rare, but important occasions—such as dinner with nobles or other patrons of the troupe—she will dress her age, usually in shades of blue and green.
Personality:
Known for a quick and biting wit, Ailisandra is mischievous even at her current age, a quality that lends well to her frequent parts as children in performances. She has a good sense and intuition towards life, but she never attended school or teachings and, as such, is very ignorant about the rest of the world. Originally illiterate, the troupe taught her to read and write enough such that she could review some materials and stories they came across during their travels. Her newfound ability sparked a deep appreciation for written stories.
Amongst people, she is quite outgoing and more than a little of a flirt. However, her mother's past has made her very reluctant to go beyond such innocent advances, earning her both the titles of “tease” and “prude” and occasionally getting her into trouble. Not a violent person by nature, she has the presence of mind to stand up for herself and is not above dirty tricks if they mean her protection, though she will rarely lose her temper in any circumstance. Aili often uses her youthful features to manipulate those around her whether it was for a piece of bread when she was on her own or for an extra tip or two from the audience at a performance.
Despite her mischievous tendencies, Ailisandra is a deeply moral person and is loathe to cross the line between having a bit of fun and hurting people. While she would not refuse a friend who breaks the law in minor ways, she would never discuss their positions or actions. Though she has few useful skills, she is always eager to help others in whatever manner possible. Overall, she is a sweet young woman with a mostly submissive personality and is deeply loyal to her few friends and to her troupe.
History:
Aili was raised in a small familial home in central Scanra by her watchful mother and drunken father. Mikaela did her best to shelter her from both Anders's and Mikaela's own life for many years and worked hard to bring home a toy or two for her young daughter when she could. At fifteen though, Aili was suddenly and abruptly introduced to the severity of the world when her mother grew sick and passed shortly thereafter. Deprived of his income, Anders sought to sell off his pretty young child for alcohol funds. It was after a first traumatic visit by an older man who had touched, but not used the screaming girl, that she sought to leave the household.
Fleeing to the nearby town, she was taken in by some of her mother's friends from a visiting group of Players that provided yearly performances. With them, she discovered a talent and love for acting, finding within her roles an escape from the brutality of the world. When one of the families decided to head for warmer climes, Ailisandra chose to tag along, eager to see more of the world and experience life without the frigid snow that had dominated her young life. The family settled in Corus and joined one of the more well know troupes in the city. She stayed with them for several years until she had made enough of a name for herself as a Player that she was able to afford rooms of her own.
Aili has been on her own for several years now, continuing to work as a Player in mostly children's roles. She is happily unattached and enjoying the relative freedom that she has earned and has no desire to return to her homeland, content in the climate and culture of Tortall.
Role Play Sample:
Ailisandra sat perched atop a barrel, her feet kicking absently beneath dark blue skirts as she wrinkled her nose at the young man in front of her.
“Honestly Ryan,” she began with a roll of her eyes, “why d'you always insist on being so rude!”
Her companion winked and threw an arm around her shoulders, brushing aside the mass of golden curls that fell about them. “Aili, why do you insist on not giving in to your obvious love for me?”
His comment evoked an indelicate snort from her as she shrugged off his arm to come to her feet. Blue eyes sparkling with amusement, she faced him and rose to the balls of her feet, the top of her head barely reaching his ear. Aili placed one hand upon his chest and beckoned him forward. When he leaned down just enough, she brushed her lips close to his cheek and spoke into his ear, her breath hot against his skin.
“Because, my dear,” she could feel his shudder beneath her palm and she took a moment to smirk to herself. “I prefer my males in the form of men, not boys.”
Grinning outright now, the blonde pulled back and seated herself with a self-satisfied sigh. Ryan gaped at her for a moment before he finally regained his wits enough to send her a dirty glare.
“Not funny.”

It's a general, but decent idea of what she might look like, just imagine without makeup and air brushing.
I'm sure there's stuff to tweak, but I'm tired. So here it is.

Okay so it's six am and I'm heavily under the influence of both illness and medication and I may recant under sobriety later, but bear with me right now =D.
Basically, if it's not mentioned, it wasn't of remarkable influence on her, meaning it was neither good nor bad such that it is worth mentioning in detail or simply isn't something you'd see under normal circumstances. =)
Note:
I said her mother was a prostitute, not that she was a bad person. Just because you're in the position where you need to sell your body doesn't necessarily mean you have no morals or are a bad person, it's just what you do. As I said, Mikaela did her best to care for and shelter her child, buying a toy when she could, etc. That said, being mischievous and playing up on looking younger doesn't amount to hurting people because it's not injuring them or being malicious or causing them to do anything against their will; it's just being teasing and fun and sometimes apt to pull a gentle prank or two, so it doesn't at all conflict with her morality. Secondly, don't mistake morality for necessary teachings or religion. A simple inborn empathy for life can result in the desire not to harm others that grows enough into a moral compass to guide actions and thoughts, especially in someone who lacks the teachings that the more educated might use to form a more complex moral code that relies upon various inputs and standards--such as the ones existing today--rather than one simple idea or feeling. Aili has no education or real learning, so her ways are guided by a much simpler, innate force rather than what we would see in someone who has had a fairly rigorous raising or education; it's a little more animalistic in nature where for all she is submissive, a defense mechanism can be rallied if pushed, however unsuccessful it might be due to her size and lack of training. Her responses can be very much described as "react, see, think, and learn." She reacted, found she didn't like how she felt when people were hurt, learned from it, and doesn't do things or approve of things that hurt people against their volition. Is it a broad and complex moral code? Certainly not, though it does remain to be a personal "moral code" for her.
To elaborate again, her appearance is what got her her job, so of course she doesn't really find it bad or upsetting when people think she's younger because to her would make no sense (to us it's hypocritical). It got her out of Scanra and into Tortall, so it doesn't bother her, especially since she plays it up sometimes. While she may not revere it, it doesn't bother her and she doesn't ruminate upon it.
On the other vein, Tamora generally puts forth that Players are genial people, so I imagine that it would not be difficult to take in a stray daughter of a friend and take her along, especially if she has a talent for acting. She was a Player soon too, so it was not a stretch to leave the troupe and join others too on the trip to Tortall. Aside from learning to live away from home, the experience was not notable in any particular shape or form with regard to personal development.
As to the "near rape," it wasn't such at all as it never got that far. What truly happened was much less, but what it was and its possible effects are yet to be found for what is the fun in revealing every little nuance and leaving no fun with which to play and discover?
