(OOC: Anybody please join!)
Caden looked down at his single bag and then at the scrap of paper in his hands. The hastily scrawled writing on the slip confirmed that he was at the right room. Caden's first choice wasn't the palace, but he definitely didn't want to stay at home. In fact, his relatives didn't even know he was back yet. That was just fine with him. Caden intended to get himself reacquainted with humans before he interacted with his family.
Caden pulled the key from his pocket and slipped into the small room. Wary as ever, he left it open so he could see if anybody passed by.

Livana swiftly strided down the hallway, going to find a misplaced paper that she suspected was with Noah Callum. She had gotten caught up with a long report of business for the queen. As she walked by the different rooms in which were set aside for the knights, she noticed one door left open. They werent' supposed to do that. She peered inside. She quickly realized that this was Caden Laken, a lone knight's, new room. Livana took a closer look. The room looked empty. Maybe he hadn't arrived yet.

Caden had stepped out of his room for just a second and came back to find a very small person standing in his doorway. She didn't really appear to be looking for him, but just looking to see why the door was open. He cleared his throat softly from behind her.
"May I help you?" he asked, in what he thought was a nice voice. Caden didn't want to accuse of her wanting to steal, because from her appearance, she wouldn't want any of his stuff. Besides, he didn't have anything worth stealing, which anybody could tell with a glance.

Livana's attention snapped to the man before her as she heard him speak. The man was much taller than she and muscled well.
"May I help you?"
"Oh, no," she replied hurriedly. "I was just seeing who was staying here. The doors usually aren't left open. Excuse me for looking in."
She hoped she wasn't blushing. This kind of embarrassment was a bit strange to her. She looked behind her quickly to see if anyone was around.
((I'm sorry it's so short!))

Caden bit back a smile as the young woman turned quickly at the sound of his voice and started making an excuse.
"Oh, no," she told him. "I was just seeing who was staying here. The doors usually aren't left open. Excuse me for looking in."
He smiled at this. "Don't worry about it. Nothing much to look at anyway." Caden extended his large hand. "I'm Caden."

"Don't worry about it. Nothing much to look at anyway. I'm Caden."
Livana slid her hand into his. Hers felt tiny compared to his.
"Livana," she said. "I don't think I've seen you around the palace before."
Although she already knew why, it didn't really matter. It would rouse conversation. She didn't want to seem too impolite, as she had already made a bit of a bad impression. Striking up a conversation was the least she could do. Doing something silly and leaving right after it would be quite stupid.

"Livana," she said, introducing herself. "I don't think I've seen you around the palace before."
Caden gave a faint smile. "I haven't been here in a very long time. Not since I first earned my knighthood." He shrugged casually. "I've been traveling."
It was a bit weird for Caden to be having an actual conversation. He figured it had been at least a couple of weeks. He had been avoiding cities on his way back to the palace and didn't see another living person along the way.
"Do you live here?" he asked Livana. "Or just work?"

Livana simply nodded lightly.
"I see..."
"Do you live here?" he asked Livana. "Or just work?"
"Live," Livana replied. "A courtier."

"Live," Livana told him. "A courtier."
"Ah, that must be exciting." Caden had said the first thing that he thought of and in a very dry tone. He ran his fingers through his hair and gave an apologetic look. "Sorry. I'm just...not quite used to...well, nevermind."
Trying to change the subject, but not quite managing to, Caden asked, "What exactly do you do as a courtier?"

"Ah, that must be exciting."
Not very, she thought to herself though she didn't want to embarress him.
Sorry. I'm just...not quite used to...well, nevermind."
Livana shook her head, almost laughing. "I assure you, it is fine."
"What exactly do you do as a courtier?"
Livana hesitated. What did courtiers really do other than live?
"Not much, really. I live with my cousin here, my uh...my parents died."
That could sound truthful enough. She always used this as a cover story, and the pause in "my parents died" would sound like she was a bit uncomfortable saying so.
Changing the subject herself this time, she said quickly, "So you're a...." She waited for him to fill it in.

"Oh," Caden commented quietly. He didn't really how to respond to that. "Mine too."
Livana changed the subject this time, much to Caden's relief. "So you're a...."
"Knight," he supplied. "I do a bit of this and that. Travel, mostly. I'm never very long in one place."

Livana nodded for a moment.

"I see. Must be interesting..."
This conversation wasn't getting too far. Livana looked away for a moment, seeing if anyone was walking by. Surprisingly enough, it was just them.

(OOC: Somebody PLEASE join!!! Not that it isn't wonderful RPing with you Ali, but we need somebody else do stir up something...)
"I see. Must be interesting..." she remarked.
"Uh, yes. Sometimes it is." Caden was quite at a loss. In the recent weeks, he hadn't had any conversation at all. Before, it was rare to hear him speak more than a few sentences. This was the longest conversation he had had in quite awhile. It was quite odd actually. Caden wasn't used to anything like this and decided to confess that to Livana. Even though he had only met her minutes ago, he decided that she was a good person. It wasn't as if nobody would ever find out.
"Sorry. This is the longest conversation I've had in ages. I'm not much of a speaker to begin with and I'm on the road a lot. So, I never really get a chance to speak with anyone."

((OOC: Yes, I know. I would join as my other char, but that would be kinda odd )) "Uh, yes. Sometimes it is." Livana simply nodded her head. Too bad there wasn't something interesting to speak of... "Sorry. This is the longest conversation I've had in ages. I'm not much of a speaker to begin with and I'm on the road a lot. So, I never really get a chance to speak with anyone." Livana almost laughed, thinking about this conversation being a 'long one'. "I see...I, myself, must confess that I wouldn't be able to go without conversation for more than a day."

Annikka marched down the corridor at a brisk pace, wondering why this particular part of the palace seemed so horribly labyrinthine despite the fact that she knew the Healer's Wing was just as bad and yet had no trouble with it.
She was looking for Livana Ninoveltz: the Spymistress, here, there and never where needed- at least not when Annikka had to look for her.
Wretched meetings, she thought furiously. Wretched Kaitelanna Delarendiere. Reassessment of the diplomatic situation, indeed.
And, as if winkling out the spymistress wasn't bad enough, she had to find a lone knight whom she remembered treating for a torn ligament some months ago- he'd been impossible to keep to his sickbed, recalcitrant, very quiet and he kept wanting to go out and practice whatever it was knights practised. And he might not even be in Corus, let alone the palace, but apparently he would have a unique perspective on the diplomatic situation. Annikka made a face, turned a corner and let out a surprised exclamation.
