"Well, I'm not going to the ball. It's tradition that the ruling monarch goes to the festival, and that's what I'm going to do. Ani, you or mother can make an appearance at the ball. I'll have a perfectly fun time with commoners. Heaven knows that they're less stuck up."
She shrugged. "Besides, sister, you want a ball. So you can be the painted doll heading it."
(OOC: Yeah, really short, but I'm typing fanfic up. Also, the festival would be a good place for Emeli to meet her suitor if someone applies to be him- Kally was thinking of it, although we need someone and the Beltane thing is closer)

"I mean, really. Its almost too obvious, Em."
Annikka opened her mouth to reply, and then shut it quickly, hoping no-one had noticed her near-interruption. It was a good idea, true, but it had its painful downsides. Oh well. The healers would just have to get ready, as usual, and really it wouldn't be any worse than Midwinter.
She took another bite of toast and thought about the precautions that would need to be taken- the precautions that she would need to take as Head Healer. Firstly, the usual culprits should be warned not to drink too much, for pity's sake, and provided with hangover cures in advance so that they didn't come down late the next morning demanding them, clogging up the wards. She looked around, not really seeing the walls and mahogany furniture.

Livana strode down the hallway, trying to avoid any distractions. After being up all night (and most of early morning) with work, the spymistress was ready for a long sleep. Or else one that could conveniently fit in her schedule.
"Good sight is one of the many requirements a Healer must meet. Like manners."
To Livana's surprise, she saw the Head Healer, a lady in waiting, the queen, and the princess all gathered in the hallway. Clearly, Lady Annikka was upset or frustrated about something. Livana figured she'd better walk by, as she didn't want to cause any further confusion or distress on the queen. Unluckily, Lady Lurenna spotted her right away. Praying that the woman wouldn't say anything, Livana picked up her pace subtly.

Inside, Emeli shifted.
"Ani, Lady Annikka, do we have anything else to discuss? Sadly, I have a council meeting in a few hours."
She finished the fruit on her plate and her lemonade.
"Ani, you don't have to attend if you don't want to. If you do go ahead, although it will most likely be dreadfully boring."
"About Beltane," she said. "Ani, can you head up all the ball details, and I'll do the festival more or less? We only have a few weeks so meet with me soon."
Her scheduling all done, Emeli stood up and signaled for a hovering slave to start clearing up.
"Lady Annikka, thank you for joining us."

"Lady Annikka, thank you for joining us."
Annikka bowed low to both the princess and the Queen. "Thank-you for letting me share your breakfast, Your Majesty, Your Highness."
She left quickly, shutting the door quietly behind her. It was a matter of habit not to let it slam, as that usually disturbed patients' rest quite dramatically. She skirted the unfortunate Lady Lurenna, avoiding her eyes, and walked off in search of a slightly more substantial breakfast than a piece of toast.

Hopefully I won't have to be there, Livana thought to herself, trying not to yawn the open.
Livana raised her eyebrows as she watched Lady Lurenna and Lady Annikka scurry away quickly. Shrugging off the interesting scene she had just witnessed, she carried on, going to her rooms as quickly as possible.
((OOC: Sorry this post is so short, but I have to get her out of this thread quickly))
